Insurance CE FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About Continuing Education Online
Insurance continuing education should do more than earn your required credits and take up your valuable time. Our acclaimed Self Study Lite series of courses are written from an agent's perspective, with content specifically design for insurance agents and staff.
What is the cost, how does 1/2 Price CE work?
We offer three types of CE: Online, AdobeCE or Self Study Lite books. The cost is the same, $10 per credit hour. We offer two discounts:
- Volume discount, 24 credits for only $199
- 1/2 Price CE, each month we feature one Online or AdobeCE course at half price. It will always be included in our newsletter every month. The course must be paid for in the month offered but it may be completed at any time.
How fast are credits reported to the state?
We pride ourselves in our response time. We file your credits within 24 hours of completion, many times the same day, for no extra charge. I know that there are times when you need your credits processed as soon as possible, that's why we file credits everyday in multiple states.
Who can monitor my exam?
A monitor can be anyone that does not have a financial stake in whether you pass or fail the exam. A boss or a spouse would not make a good monitor. A co-worker, neighbor or friend is an acceptable monitor. It can be a licensed agent but does not need to be.
I need the credits yesterday -- how long until they are filed?
Credits are filed within 24 hours. We always file our credits using next day air service to ensure prompt filing. If you're currently suspended and near suspension, contact InsuranceCE online for further assistance in filing.
If I can't finish the Insurance CE course, can I come back later and finish it?
Yes. The last page you visit is automatically bookmark, so you can resume where you left off. Bookmarks are good for 90 days (if you return in 90 days, the bookmark is reset).
How do I bookmark my place in the Insurance CE course?
Bookmarking occurs automatically every time you view a page -- you need to do nothing. To return to a bookmarked page, simply click on the CONTINUE COURSE button on the Table of Contents of the course.
Can I start the course at work, and finish it at home?
Yes. Log in using your Insurance CE username and password and you’ll be able to access your account from any internet-able device.
Why can't I open certain printable files in this course?
Some files require Adobe Acrobat, a freely distributed document browser. Search for it online for a no-cost download.
What's the difference between Online Interactive CE and Self Study?
Online CE courses are available online, 24 hours a day, from this web site. They are a series of dynamic web pages that present the course materials. The course content is similar to that offered in the Self Study Lite books, although in some cases it is different. Some states require you take a test to receive credit for them, others do not.
Self Study Lite courses come in either booklet or PDF format. All states require a test be taken to receive credit.
How does Self-Study Lite work?
It is really quite simple. Select an appropriate course and order the course material. When you receive the materials, read the booklet at your leisure, complete the quiz and fax it to our 800 fax number (1-800-476-2945). We will grade the quiz within 24 hours, fax you a certificate of completion, and file your credits with the state (if applicable).
NOTE: THIS PROCEDURE MAY VARY FROM STATE TO STATE
Can I take insurance CE courses online?
Yes, we offer selected Insurance Continuing Education courses online. Some states allow you to complete them without a written test, others require a test. Check your state for details.
Does anybody ever fail the exam?
Everyone who reads the study materials passes the exam. If you do not pass, you can take a second exam at no additional charge.
What if I receive the materials and then change my mind?
Simply return the materials to us within 30 days and we will refund your money.
How much does Self-Study Lite cost?
See our pricing page for more information. Listed prices include all study materials, postage and handling, examination, CE certificate, and filing fees. We offer monthly “half price insurance CE” discounts and occasionally run other promotions. Check back often for details.
Are there any special rules in my state?
Yes. Each state has its own set of unique rules and regulations. For details about your state, see your state's page, or visit your state Insurance commissioner's web site, accessible from our resources page.
What is a .PDF file?
PDF stands for Portable Document Format, and these files are created in a program called Adobe Acrobat. The advantage of using this format over others (such as Microsoft Word) is that .PDF documents can be used by anyone on any computer, regardless of brand or operating system. Thus a file created in Windows 98 will work the same on machines running other operating systems such as Windows NT, Linux, or even Macintosh's. PDF is the standard file transfer format on the Internet.
